3 Blogs That Have Been Nominated For An Award
November 9, 2007
I love the Blogger’s Choice Awards, because they introduce me to all sorts of new blogs. Blogs are like my TV. Or like reading a book. Actually, more like a magazine, because each entry is like reading a little article. Or, whatever. Anyway, I just love to read blogs for entertainment. Here are 3 blogs that have been nominated for “Best Blog of All Time.”
1. Snippets of Life by Karen Cheng. This is a new blog to me, but it looks good. She has a “voice” I can relate to. I hope her pregnancy attempts are successful.
2. Dooce by Heather Armstrong. Heather is a powerhouse in the blogging world. I’ve been reading her blog off and on for a while now and it seems like every book I’ve read about blogging (yes, not only do I like to read blogs, but I also like to read ABOUT blogs) sites her blog as an example of greatness. And for good reason: she has a fantastic style.
3. Tyson and Julia A newly married couple’s blog. I’m impressed that the husband created the blog from scratch, but the blog seems to be more photo-heavy than content-rich. They’ve just started out, though, so we’ll see what happens.
Winners are announced tomorrow, November 10. Good luck to all of them.
3 Things That Are On My Mind Today
November 8, 2007
I want to get my post up for the day (see www.nablopomo.com) but I don’t have a lot of time to expound on my thoughts. See my other blog (www.kidscatsbnl.wordpress.com soon if you are interested.
1. My job. I just don’t know what to do about my job. I am really unhappy there, but it isn’t a good time to be moving on.
2. My foot. I was contacted by Labor and Industries about closing out my claim. It was hinted that there may be a cash settlement due to me if I’m permanently disabled.
3. Kittens. I finally convinced E that we need another kitten and now I’m not sure it’s a good idea after all. Maybe we’ll check out what’s available this weekend.
3 Election Day Cartoons
November 6, 2007
It’s election day in many parts of the country. While you are deciding how to vote, go ahead and enjoy these cartoons. And remember what a great democracy we live in that enables us to make fun of the very thing that helps to protect our rights.

3 of My Favorite Quotes
November 5, 2007
1. “This is my family. I found it all on my own. It’s little and broken. But still good. Yeah, still good.” Spoken by Stitch in the movie Lilo and Stitch. I like it because it makes me realize that families aren’t perfect and don’t have to be in order for you to love them.
2. There are things I can’t force. I must adjust. There are times when the greatest change needed is a change of my viewpoint~~CM Howard. This quote tells me to be patient. That things can’t always be the way I want them to be. That I need to change my thinking and chill out.
3. Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box. Italian Proverb. Everyone is the same under the skin; nobody is better than the next person.
The Last 3 Text Messages I Received
November 5, 2007
1. “K”…today, from my husband, in response to a text I sent him letting him know I didn’t find any backpacks for our son at Kohl’s and he should check Wal-Mart instead.
2. “Call me”…October 15, from my husband
3. “Call me when you can”…September 26, from my husband.
What can I say? I’m not a teenager; I don’t use my text feature very often. And, apparently, neither does my husband.
3 Signs That Halloween Has Come And Gone
November 4, 2007
1. Coworkers all have miniature-sized candy bars in their lunches, most likely snagged from their childrens’ Trick-or-Treat bags.
2. Pumpkins are smashed all over the roads. I’ve never understood this. Do the owners of the pumpkins/jackolanterns smash them in the streets themselves, or do vandals wait until after the holiday and then snag and destroy the pumpkins?
3. Actually, I don’t really have a third thing, but this blog is called 3 Things, so I’ll go with…Halloween decor is on clearance in the stores. Yeah, that’s it. In fact, I just bought my son a t-shirt for $2 at Target that says Creepy 01. I have no idea what that means, but what the heck, right? He’s 11 and it has the word “creepy” on it. It works.
Top 3 Albums on Zune Marketplace
November 2, 2007
1. Minutes to Midnight, by Linkin Park
2. Exile on Mainstream, by Matchbox Twenty
3. Cease to Begin, by Band of Horses
Of those three albums, only one song from one of them is in my music library: “What I’ve Done” by LP. I thought I had a bunch of M20 stuff, but apparently I’ve deleted it or lost it or something. I’ll have to go back and add a few songs; “Push”, “Back 2 Good”, and “Real World” for sure. I’m listening to the Band of Horses album right now…it’s ok. I probably won’t listen to it again, though. It just isn’t grabbing me.
3 Monthly Expenses I Don’t Need But Don’t Want To Give Up
November 1, 2007
1. My satellite radio subscription. I’ve been an XM Radio subscriber for almost two years now. I listen mainly to the alternative/light alternative stations and rarely venture away from my comfort zone, but I just love it. I hear songs that I haven’t heard in years, often coming up with new songs to add to my MP3 player. My daughter enjoys Radio Disney and being able to sing along with the songs she hears while watching TV. Sometimes I listen to the comedy stations; just recently I heard a routine by Brian Regan. I used to love him, and it was good to reminded of how funny he is.
2. Zune Marketplace. Zune Marketplace is a subscription music service similar to Napster. For a small monthly fee you can download as much music as you want, and as long as you pay each month the music stays on your device. People are always giving me a hard time about this, saying I can get all the music I want for free from sites such as Limewire. Not using Limewire is a choice I made after giving it a lot of thought. First, Limewire is illegal to use in the capacity I’d want it for. The songs all have copyrights on them, and I don’t feel like it’s right to not support the bands that I like.
3. Netflix. This isn’t actually MY unnecessary monthly expense; it’s my husband’s. But he likes it and I love him, so we keep it. If I had to give one up, it’d be the first to go, though. Apparently music is more important to me than movies are.

3 Things I Did On My Day Off
October 15, 2007
1. Slept until almost 8 am. Yeah, I know this doesn’t sound like a very late sleep-in, but when I have to get up at 4:30 on my early days at work and 6 am on the days I need to get the kids off to school then 8 am is really lounging around, ya know? Once I was up I sat around waiting for E and S to make breakfast. S has been bragging for days that she learned how to cook scrambled eggs, so we let her make them this morning while E made hash browns and bacon. Everything was delicious; S was very proud.
2. Took S with me while I ran some errands. S isn’t happy with the Halloween costume we got her so we’ve been looking at other stores to see what they have in stock. We went to the Wal-Mart we don’t normally go to, but their selection wasn’t very good. Since there wasn’t anything else I needed we started to leave, but then I saw the newspapers on sale and decided to grab a Sunday edition. I went to one of the “Speedy” checkout lanes, only to wait in line for 20 minutes. There were only 3 people ahead of me!! I won’t go into all the boring details, but I don’t think my cashier could’ve been slower if she had been asleep. After Wal-Mart we went to Joann’s to return some fabric dye that I bought. I want to dye some bedding I bought on clearance, and the dye that I originally bought was not washing-machine friendly. I don’t have a giant pot to stir the items around in, nor do I want to, so I went back and got some Rit, which is what I usually use. I also picked up a few plastic storage boxes for $1 each because I want to sort out and store some of my pendants-waiting-to-be-strung and broken jewelry-waiting-to-be-fixed.
3. Read blogs forever! Delightful Blogs has tons of great blogs to read and I got sucked into clicking on link after link. I found a few that I’m going to be adding to the blogroll at my other blog.
